Mountain Goat Roofing

It had been 19 years since we've had new shingles and our roof still had the original 3/8" plywood from when the house was built in 1969, so we were looking to do a complete tear down. The shingles were starting to fail and the plywood was in pretty bad shape, after having three or four sets of shingles over the years.

After getting estimates from four companies, I chose to go with MGR and they did not disappoint! Aza took the time to go over every detail with us and even offered to paint the plywood for the soffits before they went up, as our yard is on a slope and would be difficult for us to do ourselves once installed. The crew arrived early both days and worked together like a well oiled machine. In addition to covering the perimeter of our house and plants with tarps, they protected our rear windows and sliding glass door with sheets of plywood before tearing off the old roof. They cleaned up the site on Day 1 before leaving and after the work was completed on Day 2, they did a final clean up. Even though it's only been a couple of days, I have yet to find even one nail!

MGR was the highest bid, however Aza listened to us and provided us with the most detailed estimate! I also wanted to replace the shingles on our shed and they did a fantastic job. We chose the CertainTeed NorthGate ClimateFlex in Max Def Moire Black for our shingles. This product is of exceptional quality and comes with an extended 5 Star warranty which MGR does not charge for. I highly recommend Mountain Goat Roofing and if I could give more stars, I definitely would!

Mountain Goat Roofing recently replaced our roof and we are so pleased with their work. Aza who owns the company, provided a comprehensive and detailed inspection/estimate that identified existing problem areas and outlined effective solutions. For example, re-routing a few of the downspouts where damage was evident. In addition, the crew installed a Velux skylight, which turned out really great. In the end, we were very satisfied with the estimate and the final bill was right on target. We were especially impressed with the Mountain Goat crew. They were all very professional, polite, very skilled and worked extremely hard. The amount of time and preparation that they spent on laying out tarps for tearing off the old shingles really paid off as there was no debris to be found around the perimeter of the house. The final cleanup the crew performed was also very thorough. When the new roof was completed, we noticed a lot of attention to detail, including features to help ensure proper water flow. After 30 years, the roof on our house was showing a lot of signs of wear and tear. It wasn't leaking, but we like to be proactive when we can. It pays off. A leak could be catalysmic because it would probably be a month or so before we noticed. Lots of damage to walls and ceilings. Ugh!

Anyway, I asked around and my friends gave me the names of 3 roofing companies. I called all of them to ask for a quote.

The first guy had an aerial view of our roof which gave him the dimensions that would need to be redone. He said that there was no reason for him to actually go onto the roof. I thought this was a little strange. What if the roof wasn't that bad?

The second guy only looked at the roof from the front and backyard. He really didn't think that we should spend the money. He had a quote that was 50 percent more than the first. Because our neighborhood is quickly going from single home to multi-family, he thought we should wait 5 years and reconsider. Truth be told, we are old, but we love our old house. We like the location. We don't plan to move. I'd rather get a new roof sooner so that we can enjoy our peace of mind longer. I think this guy thought we might decide to move to a retirement home rather than spend money on a roof.

Then the third guy came. What a breath of fresh air! Aza Cline had a ladder. He went up on our roof. He poked around. He checked our vents. He saw evidence of something unusual. It was a treatment in the attic because we had a house fire years ago. I was impressed by his assessment of our roof. His quote was about the same as the first guy. The crew worked quickly, were very nice, and cleaned up everything at the end of the job. This is the company that you will want to do your roof.

We have had our new roof for a year now with absolutely no problems.

We have what I knew would be a challenging roofing job: tall 4-story townhome on a hillside with very limited and tight access.

Most roofing companies I contacted didn't even bother to respond as a result. Aza and MGR was recommended by one of the folks at Cornerstone Roofing who basically said: "This job is too complicated for us but if anyone can get it done it will be Aza.

MGR didn't disappoint. Aza did a thorough assessment of the job and even made some clever recommendations to reconfigure our high gutters for better performance and easy maintenance. High Point Gutters will be doing that work.

The roofing crew was efficient and clean. They got the job done in basically a day, after coming by to hoist materials up to the roof the previous day. The tarped the entire house perimeter so the old roof material did not damage anything as it was removed. Cleaned up so well after the job you wouldn't know they were here.

Aza from Mt Goat Roofing stopped by to assess my old roof and was very punctual, professional and courteous. After he had time to assess the roof he came down and pleasantly surprised me with the fact that my roof is still in decent shape and gave me his professional assessment and how he came up with that decision and also some suggestions on how to maintain it to help it reach its full longevity. Mind you I already had assessment done that recommended full replacement and was in scramble to book numerous estimates and stressing about the costs. I will definitely be contacting Aza in a few years ( hopefully in 5 if luck is with me) when it's time for the actual replacement. He truly made my day

Stop looking around for other roofing services and just reach out to Mountain Goat Roofing. They beat out multiple competing offers and are experts in this field. Aza came out and did the MOST thorough roof inspection. He went up on our roof and drafted up a plan very quickly - which you might expect is the standard with inspections and quotes but you'd be surprised with other competitors we researched and how they use a drone or just look at Google Maps satellite view. You can just tell he's very experienced and knows what to look out for and how to draft up a plan that's best for the house.

He was very communicative, responsive over phone and email, and spelled out every detail and decision we had to make. I really appreciated that attention and care.

One other detail I found very impressive was that he called MULTIPLE times to see if we wanted to get the project started early because "his team finished another project early". This just indicates how efficient and effective his team works.

And in reality, they were super efficient. There was about a team of 4-8 people who came by (all friendly, professional, etc.) Finished our re-roofing project in total 16 hours over the course of two days. I was SO impressed by how the team even came and tarped our property and put boards up by our windows so that as they hauled out the old material that things wouldn't get damaged. They cleaned up very well - it's almost as if they weren't there at all. They came and left at exactly the times they said they would. I did not have to be super involved in the process.

Lastly, when the project was done we noticed one exposed area in our chimney. Aza called immediately and the next day at 8am we got a doorbell ring with the team telling us they fixed the issue.

When Aza came to do the initial estimate, I was impressed with his attention to detail, and his desire to build a quality roof. His estimate was right in line with another reputable company, so I chose him and I'm glad I did. There's not much to report because everything went smoothly. The roof looks great and the guys left my house and yard cleaner than they found it. There was one small aesthetic issue with the torch-down roof (no one's fault) and Aza came out the next day, on a weekend, and took care of it himself. It's hard to imagine how you could go wrong choosing this company.

Introduced to us by Homeowners Club, Mountain Goat Roofing stood out from the 3 roofers that examined our 37 year old house, last roofed 20 years ago.

All 3 roofers climbed on the roof and examined it during their first meeting with us.
The other 2 roofers stopped there, and provided estimates that removed/replaced the roof.

The representative from Mountain Goat -- who was the president/owner, Aza -- took additional steps as described below, while keeping his price competitive:
- Took a look at our attic to verify the construction of the "chalet" roofed portioned of the house.
- Since building codes had changed since our house was built, he included the addition of a small "cricket roof" behind our chimney in the re-roofing work. This prevents buildup of debris behind the chimney by ensuring that rain washes leaves, etc, off the roof instead of trapping them next to the chimney.
- Noticed that the ceiling of our kitchen had been raised (by us), and that this changed the air flow in the area between the roof and the ceiling. He included establishing improved air flow in the re-roofing work.
- Provided a list over several pages of houses in the area his company had re-roofed, with information on the color and type of tile used. This allowed us to see how some of the colors looked in the "real" world, and helped us decide on the color for our house.
- A gutter on an upper roof drained on a lower roof. The water then flowed over that lower roof into another gutter. Moss tended to grow where that water flowed. Aza said he would improve the situation, and his crew installed a piece of gutter pipe between the upper spout and the lower roof gutter after installing the new roof. MOREOVER, though I had expressed hope that the color of this new piece of gutter would match the (black) roof color and not the white of the existing gutter, I didn't expect it would be possible. Pleasant surprise - Mountain Roof painted the new pipe black to match the roof. Looks great!
- We wanted the roofer to install small pieces of wood under our eaves to cover a gap between the soffits and the roof. Mountain Goat was the only roofer who said (and without my even asking for it) that they would paint the wood pieces to match the house color. We provided Aza the paint color codes, and thus his team was able to install pre-painted wood strips and (where needed) replacement soffits. The other roofers planned to install white-primed wood and leave the painting to me. (Aza also gave me the leftover paint.)
- There was a small gap in the side of the house near the roof, a potential attic entry point for insects. Mountain Goat caulked and painted it over. Aza and I had discussed it, but it was not included it in the estimate. The work was so minor I frankly didn't expect it to be remembered or done. To my surprise, his crew did the work without being prompted.

The on-site Mountain Goat workers were unobtrusive. During the work I talked with several of them, and found them unfailingly polite and positive.

Mountain Goat just finished our roof. It is beautiful. They did a great job, kept the site cleaned up, communicated clearly with us, and exceeded our expectations in every way. After we had scheduled the work to begin in May, we had several issues with our old roof. Aza Cline (owner of Mountain Goat), generously sent people out to patch up these problems while we waited for the right time to do the entire job. He never sent us a bill for this work. They have hundreds of impeccable jobs you can look up our contact for references. Their track record is just great so we weren't surprised how well they did. Their prices were not even the highest despite the quality and reputation they have. They also pay their workers fairly and honestly. Great free estimate by Aza who is very thoughtful and helpful. They did a thorough job and have been around long enough to know how to prevent issues in the long term. Recommended.
